When a warm moist air mass blows over a cold surface (like a cold ocean surface) fog can be formed. We had a tee time at Rum Pointe for 9:30am and it took almost 9 holes before visibility was beyond the hole of play.
The greens seemed to be in decent shape but after discovering the course had only been open for two weeks I would say the conditions were much better than expected.
Four tee sets to choose from. We normally play the closest set that exceeds 6,000 yards and there were still two sets back of us.
I found it very strange that I didn't see any women out playing but perhaps this was just an oddity of the day.
The front nine at Rum Pointe is virtually treeless while the back has some trees bordering both sides of hole #11 and #12 and only the left side of hole #10.
Holes 9 and 18 are near mirror images of each other flipped over a large pond.
All four par 3s are picturesque with only #17 not having water in play.
Two holes run parallel to the ocean, #8 and #16.
Rum Pointe has a very appealing clubhouse. Although it doesn't have a large dining area it offers a very pleasant visit. The pro shop has lots of golf wear but very little in the way of golf supplies.
I have enough golf shirts to last me a lifetime but I liked the Rum Pointe logo so much I had to buy another.
Rum Pointe gave me the impression that, given some warm sunny weather, it would soon turn into a top notch course.
Rum Pointe is a very appealing option for golfers as the value for dollar versus cost to play makes it a very good choice for a price conscious golfer.
